MINNEAPOLIS AND ST. PAUL — Minnesota Fringe Festival, the Midwest’s largest performing arts festival, opened with a remarkable 19 percent jump in attendance over last year’s event, the festival announced today.

StarTribune’s Graydon Royce has a great profile of some Twin Cities-based Fringe performers who have been going around the Fringe circut lately.
Our favorite bit:
[Katherine] Glover recalled a San Francisco crowd of seven — six of them staffers or volunteers. Ironically, she said, that was one of her favorite audiences (“They laughed at everything”).
